There are many opportunities out with the curriculum for pupils to get actively involved in making and enjoying music. The Junior and Senior Orchestras are open to any pupil who plays an orchestral instrument. At present the Junior Orchestra rehearses weekly at lunchtime while the Senior Orchestra rehearsal is every Tuesday after school.
For pupils who particularly enjoy playing recorder there are two Recorder Groups which rehearse every week. Pupils who enjoy singing may join either the Senior or Junior Choir. There is also a Training Choir. All the Choirs rehearse on a weekly basis. Other rehearsals taking place on a weekly basis cater for The Clarinet Quartet, two Flute Groups and a String Ensemble.
Pupils who receive instrumental tuition at Craigholme are entered by the school for Associated Board exams when they have reached the appropriate standard. Pupils also regularly enter for Music Festivals.
