Pupils’ individual talents are fostered and we instil in them a determination to succeed in all that they do. It is our ethos to produce not only academically talented individuals, but also well-rounded, responsible citizens of the future. Education at Craigholme is education in its widest sense. It embraces academic success for all, along with the development of self-confidence and the essential life skills to succeed in a world of constant change and uncertainty. We achieve this by focusing on the individual and providing supportive relationships, so that each girl's potential is identified, developed and celebrated.
Throughout the school, pupils experience success in a variety of forms, whether on the stage, in the classroom or on the sports field. Pupils’ sporting aptitude is encouraged with investment in a stunning £2 million Sports Complex.
After finishing S6, the majority of our pupils go on to university and significant numbers have gained places at Oxford, Cambridge, and other leading institutions.
The school’s academic achievements continue to grow year-on-year. In 2013 we were one of the top five best performing independent schools in Scotland with a 93 per cent pass rate at Higher.
This year Craigholme celebrates 120 years of excellence in educating girls. When Mrs Jessie Murdoch opened our doors in 1894 no-one would have forecast that within 120 years we would evolve into one of Scotland’s leading schools. We will be hosting a series of high profile events to mark our anniversary and hope you will be able to join us.
We hope our website gives you a flavour of what a Craigholme education offers and look forward to welcoming you to Craigholme in the near future.
Mrs Gillian Stobo, Principal
