Argentinean Choir Visit

In January, 160 pupils from the Training, Junior and Senior Choirs performed with more than 60 children from the St Andrew's Scots School orchestra, Buenos Aires. The event marked the Argentinean school's first trip to Scotland as part of a whistle-stop UK tour.

The choirs entertained a packed audience with a varied repertoire from traditional Scottish songs to a George Michael pop song.

The Music Department began a study on global citizenship in August 2008 with a focus on the role that singing and performing plays, both educationally and socially, in different cultures around the world. Since then, Craigholme's choirs have collaborated with choirs from Australia, Africa, Europe, North and South America. Craigholme hosted visits to Scotland from the Australian Girls' Choir, as well as the A.F.R.I.C.A choir from Uganda and Germany''s renowned Blankenburg School choir.

In addition, Craigholme was the only intrenational school to be invited to Festival Disney - a competitive music event in Orlando, Florida - in 2009. Next year, they will be among a group of school choirs from across the world travelling to the Far East, for a musical performance on the Great Wall of China as well as concerts in Beijing and Shanghai.
