Craigholme School in the Southside of Glasgow, is the top independent girls' school in the West of Scotland. The school provides an all-through education for girls aged 5-18 years. With 120 years of experience in educating girls, Craigholme teaches pupils to achieve excellent academic results as well as the necessary life skills to succeed in their future careers.
Research shows that girls perform better in single sex schools with small class sizes. Craigholme was among the top five performing schools in Scotland in the last round of SQA examinations. The school also has a sector leading Music Department, a strong track record of achievement in the arts and an impressive £2 million Sports Complex which was used for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The school also has a Nursery for girls and boys aged 3-5 years.
HM Inspectors of Education visited the school and nursery in 2014 and were very positive about Craigholme's high quality learning environment. Inspectors were impressed by our focus on meeting the needs of individual pupils, the very strong attainment in SQA national qualifications at S4-S6 and support for transition from Nursery to Junior 1 and from Junior 7 to Senior 1. The Inspectors' letter can be found here.
"Craigholme has provided our daughters with an excellent education. This has enabled them to reach their full potential - both academically and as well-rounded and confident individuals.
While the school is justifiably proud of its academic results (5th position in Scotland’s Highers league table), it is also highly effective in its holistic commitment to the well-being and success of every child. Focus is on ensuring that girls realise their full potential both academically and as individuals with the skills for life ahead.
We are tremendously grateful to the school for their support for our girls - from J1 to S6 - providing them with a wonderful start in life."
