Our curriculum is full and varied, incorporating A Curriculum for Excellence, yet containing so much more. Our staff work together in constantly developing our programmes, and in building in opportunities for pupils to exercise choice in what they are learning.
Our pupils learn individually and collaboratively, developing the transferable skills needed for Learning, Life and Work in this rapidly changing society. We continue to place great importance on the core subjects, where we incorporate problem-solving activities to further develop those skills.
Pupils who will benefit from early intervention are given support in class and with our Learning support teacher where required. Mrs McColl works very closely with class teachers to ensure a close correlation of programmes.
Opportunities for personalisation and choice are provided by involving pupils in the planning of topics throughout the school. In addition to this, pupils from J4 upwards are all members of one of our four school committees. The committees focus on International Education, Eco Matters, Houses and Pupil Council. This helps our pupils to contribute very effectively to decision making as they voice their ideas and take positive action for their school.
