Ex-BBC Newsreader, Abeer McIntyre, visited Craigholme to meet with S3 pupils who are raising funds for the Mary’s Meals charity.
Abeer, who is the Lead Fundraiser, for Mary’s Meals was impressed with the ideas that the girls had for collecting small, regular amounts of money such as filling their own collection boxes at home with loose change, each filling a backpack with pencils etc for school and running a stall on Tournament Day.
The charity, which provides school meals to over 390,000 children in developing countries worldwide, has no advertising budget and instead relies solely on word of mouth advertising.
Chloe MacGregor said, “Its very rewarding raising funds for Mary’s Meals as a group. It feels like we are really making a difference.”
S1-S3 pupils have entered the Mary’s Meals essay competition. A selection of entries will be published in an anthology to raise funds for the charity. Pupils chose to write a story, poem, play or debate.
