This week we are welcoming a new flute tutor to Craigholme, Mrs Laura Bailie. Laura has been teaching pupils for over twenty years and has worked in many schools, as well has having her own successful teaching practice.
Laura works with pupils of all ages, and the flute is offered as an instrumental lesson to girls from Junior 4 upwards. As well as tutoring individual pupils, girls can also be part of the school’s flute group and perform at events throughout the school year.
Laura has many international credits to her name; having studied flute with David Nicholson at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, she continued her studies with Harrie Starreveld at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam and then, having been awarded a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship, with Kate Lukas and Jacques Zoon at Indiana University in the States.
She has extensive orchestral experience and has performed in the UK, Europe, USA and Japan, including appearances at the Edinburgh International festival, St. Magnus Festival and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music festival.
This week Laura will be visiting classes to speak to girls interested in learning the flute. If you have any questions about your daughter taking up this instrument, please contact Mr Donnelly, firstname.lastname@example.org.
